It’s National Cuddly Kitten Day guys! And even if you don’t have a cute little furry kitty at home to snuggle up with, you need to cuddle something! It doesn’t have to be a kitty, pooch, or even a bunny…studies have shown that touch can be a key component of healing and healthy living that improves your everyday life!
After completing hundreds of studies, The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine found evidence of noticeable effects that touch has on patients. Apparently touch can promote faster growth in premature babies, reduce pain, decrease autoimmune disease symptoms (yes, please!), lower glucose levels in children with diabetes, and improve immune systems in people with cancer.
Now, please don’t go around laying hands on strangers, claiming to have the ability to heal them (in Jesus’ name, perhaps)–but I find this so interesting! Imagine how enjoyable life would be if we all physically embraced those special people in our lives more often. We tend to get so caught up in our world that we forget to show what should be common affection. I challenge you to be bold today, walk up to a friend or family member (stranger if you’re like one of those people in Union Square), and offer them a warm embrace. Bring healing and positive energy to not only their day, but to yours as well!
xoxoJoe
