Hi everyone! It feels tremendously weird writing right now as it’s been quite some time. The month of May was such a hectic time for me…it was the end of the school year, I was involved in numerous volunteering efforts, there was my birthday, Mother’s Day, infusion treatments at the hospital, and in the midst of it all, I could not bring myself to delve into the world of blogging. I’m sure other Lupus patients can relate in regard to the ups and downs of having this conditions. There are moments when things are going so well and all you can focus on is seizing the moment, and other times when things are so low when a solace escape is enough.
As I continue to get back into the groove of everyday life, I find myself again reevaluating the relationships that I have and the kind of energy that I want to be exposed to on a daily basis. I can imagine that it isn’t just me that feels this way every now and then…and after investing so much time into a relationship–whether it’s with a spouse, family member, or friend, it’s disheartening to think that it ultimately may not have been what you thought. It definitely isn’t something easy to do, but I truly believe that removing negative energy and relationships from your life is one of the crucial ways to promote healthy living. I’ve even stopped talking to family members because of this–people focusing on the negative aspects of every situation. It’ll be the first time they lay eyes on you in years and the first words that escape their lips spit fire and create pain–“You lost so much weight…you skinny eh!” or “Gal… you get fat!” or “Did you hear about (so and so)” or whatever other nonsense they try to share. I personally, refuse to engage any longer.
This weekend my family, friends, and colleagues supported me as we walked with the Lupus Foundation of America to find a cure for Lupus! I have been fundraising for a little over a month now and thanks to everyone who made a contribution, my team was able to raise over $1,500 towards Lupus research! It was amazing seeing so many people working and walking together for the same cause! I look forward to continuing this work and I am praying that with continued awareness, advocacy, and fundraising efforts, this world will someday soon be a world free of Lupus!

In my efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I am constantly trying to “be one” with my body and pay attention to any signs that it may be attempting to communicate with me. In the past, I’ve ignored signals and continued living my life however I felt I needed to. This has only caused increased pain, frustration, and anxiety. It would be entirely foolish for me to ignore the old saying, “learn from the mistakes of others”, and continue repeating the cycle of inconsistent consideration of my body’s needs. Lupus patients are constantly at risk of causing increased Lupus activity in their bodies. It’s important to be aware of the signals that your body sends, as well as what you can do when they suddenly arise!
Good Morning! I am extremely excited about some news that I received and couldn’t wait until the next Motivation Monday to share it! A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a wellness website who shares the writing of fellow bloggers in order to promote wellness and an overall healthy lifestyle. They shared how much they enjoyed one of my articles and would love to feature it on their website. Last night I received a notification stating that it is finally posted! It’s such a great feeling to simply be acknowledged and have my writing be appreciated.

Now that I am back at work, it is so difficult keeping up with my posts, but the Motivation Mondays MUST stay consistent! As always, please share some of the awesome things that happened to you this week. Remember, there’s a blessing even in the little things!!!
As I write this post, I am attempting to keep up with the schedule that I was maintaining during my time away from work…but it’s hard! I’m back to waking up early and actually getting ready for work. My mornings are still a bit slow and I have to just jump right into my routine–ready or not! I’m back to feeling as if there aren’t enough hours in the day, but I need more hours because especially on a day like yesterday, there’s just so much to do! I’m forcefully reminded of the status of my health, yet again, and trying to maintain all positivity in order to make it through the day.
Now that I’m back at work, I have to get readjusted to my schedule. I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, but hey, it’s never too late! I I hope you all are keeping up and continuing to reflect on your blessing daily! One thing that I noticed this week is that my 5 things have nothing to do with my Lupus…that’s because this week was one of the most normal weeks that I’ve had in a long time! Praise God! Now, I did have a doctor appointment and a pulmonary function exam on Tuesday, but they both went great! While I am so grateful for improved health, there were so many other awesome things happening this week too–I didn’t know where to fit health news! I guess it doesn’t matter since I found a lovely spot here:D Comment below and let me know of some amazing things that happened to you this week!
