We are officially coining this “Motivation Monday” and I will try my best to remind you, first thing on Monday mornings, that you are blessed beyond measure! I encourage you to stop for a minute….take a second to acknowledge your blessings! There are at least 5 awesome things that happened to you this week! Here are mine!

Gift Basket

My absolutely amazing 4th grade team members came over to my house on Monday and surprised me with a gift basket of all of my favorite goodies. Guys, when I say my favorite goodies, I mean my favorite!!!! Wine (with stoppers), green tea, magazines, NUTELLA!!! The list goes on! It wasn’t the gift itself that made my heart smile…it was all of the thought that was put into the gift. These women clearly pay close attention to the things that I say and do and ultimately know me so well. Not only did they make me feel valued, I truly felt loved.

Lunch Date

I had the opportunity to have lunch this week with a younger sister in my sorority which never happens!!! Having Lupus has tremendously impacted my ability to be as involved as I’d like to, so it was really nice to have the opportunity to just meet and sit with her. We chit chatted about life and laughed at many of the similar experiences that we’ve had in the sorority in spite of our age difference, and overall had an amazing time in each other’s company! Have you taken advantage of the opportunity to sit in fellowship with someone who you don’t really know? Why not go out on a limb and invite them out to lunch or dinner? Something beautiful may blossom!

Ginger Tea

So…I have literally been binge drinking ginger tea this week. I mean, multiple cups a day! I’ve discovered the boxes that come pre-packaged with honey or brown sugar so all you have to do is add the water, and OMG, it’s just so soothing!!!! Not only does the tea taste amazing, a little birdie (Mama) told me that it’s great for digestion! Go get a cup!

Insurance

It has been another week of appointments (ugh) and I have to say that whenever my body crashes and I have to see multiple doctors, one after the other, I’m reminded of how blessed I am to actually have insurance. In my very first post, I shared that prior to my diagnosis, I did not have insurance at all! I remember those days…not fondly. They were terrible! There’s nothing worse than knowing that something is wrong with you and not being able to seek out someone who can help and possibly remediate your condition. There is absolutely no way that I’d be able to take care of all of my medical bills right now so I feel beyond blessed and grateful for my coverage.

“Get Out”

During a mid-week visit from two of my colleagues, we decided to go and see the movie “Get Out” later on in the week! By the time Friday rolled around, I was toooooooooooo excited to spend quality time with them! I had mixed emotions about the movie due to the nature of its trailer (I do not like horror/thriller films/literature), but heard amazing things about it, so remained open-minded. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I encourage you to go see it–it is really good! Kudos to Jordan Peele for creating such an insightful piece of art! Unfortunately, I can not give you any further information about the movie–I don’t want to ruin it for you! But, when you decide to go see the movie, please comment and let me know your thoughts on the conveyed message. I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

I want to try practicing humility on a daily basis! Having Lupus is definitely one of my biggest challenges, but it’s here, so I’m just working with what I’ve got lol. 13. Hi Joezette and thank you for this as a reminder to stop and realize just how blessed I truly am. In Alberta Canada where I live we have free health care. No monthly billings and when I want to see a Doctor I just book an appointment. If a referral is required it is the same, we do have great coverage.
I started a long while back before I go to sleep to remind myself of the many blessings of the day and search my soul in reflection of anything hurtful I may have done. It is a quiet time where I can reach out to God and express how blessed I truly am…

    Hugs
